Summer in the Lowcountry

Here’s a little re-cap on what’s going on in my corner of the world. Summer is our sweet spot, here on beautiful Hilton Head Island. And, like most Mommas, I adore the slower pace of Summer but also deal with a little bit of chaos {juggling kiddos and work. Raise your hand if you feel like you hear, “Mom, we’re hungry!” like a THOUSAND times a day!}. However, a day never goes by that I’m not super grateful to live in such a beautiful place. The water, gorgeous sunsets and that SPANISH MOSS really do help me “breathe and take in every moment”. If you’ve never been to Hilton Head Island or the Lowcountry…you must! It’s good for the soul.

There are two camps on the island: 1. those that dislike the busy tourist months 2. And, those that roll with it. We are definitely the latter! Why not “staycation”. When I see a families biking around Hilton Head having the time of their lives, it makes me smile. I’m here to tell you, we take FULL ADVANTAGE. One of our favorite Summer activities is going to the Sea Pines Beach Club in the evenings. There is always live music, loads of people and a fun summertime atmosphere. My kiddos are total “hams” and love to dance whenever they hear a music at the beach club.

Boating. We’ve spent a ton of time out on the boat this Summer. One of our favorite activities is to jet over to Daufuskie Island or Palmetto Bluff with our kiddos and friends. In just a short 20-30minute boat ride; you can feel like you are off in a faraway place! A few suggestions: Daufuskie Island is not FANCY. Bring your “open-mind” and where clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We affectionately tell our kids they have “FUSKIE FEET” whenever we get home from boating over to Daufuskie Island because they are black and muddy. Palmetto Bluff, on the other hand, is a completely different vibe. One of the prettiest places on the PLANET! We grab brunch at Buffalo’s and stroll through the Inn. You have no choice but to slow down when you are at “the Bluff”.

And…it wouldn’t be Summer without a bit of CHAOS. Right? Between doing anything to keep the kids entertained…I pop into the shop. It’s a juggling act {but, don’t we all juggle}. I have the best Louette Ladies helping me and we love meeting TONS of new faces in the Summer. Currently we’re working on a cool event called “Christmas in July” where I will be featuring a Pop-Up Heartward Shop. If you are in the area you should totally stop by. We’ve teamed up with some of our neighbors in The Village at Wexford and will be going FULL ON CHRISTMAS on July 17th. Hopefully my kids won’t be too confused. Ha!

While I’m writing this post, Jessica is a BUSY BUSY traveling to Atlanta, Ga to set-up for the International Gift Show. I will be joining her later in the week. We can’t wait to share our MARKET experience with y’all. So…stay tuned. In the meantime, I’m wishing EVERYONE {especially the MOMS} a sweet Summer filled with slow mornings, laughter and not too much CHAOS. Remember, “the days are long but the years are short”. Let’s help each other SLOW down, let the kitchen be dirty for awhile, let your kids jump in those puddles and stay up too late. We will wish for these times. And…when you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that we’re all in the same CRAZY boat. Cheers! BE THE GOOD. XO-Heather
